Adrian Westbrooke

Hello this is Adrian Westbrooke. I am new to the world of self-publishing, and would like to say how grateful and humbled I am by the reception my books have received thus far. It is thrilling to think of others reading them and taking pleasure in stories that, for so long, existed only in my imagination.

My fascination with the great age of sail was first kindled by an early immersion in naval history and has since been deepened by years of reading about the period from the voyages of discovery to the wars that set the Royal Navy against the fleets of France, Spain, Holland and others. Even as a boy, I was captivated by the voyages of James Cook; and so, naturally, I had to begin there with Nicholas.

I try to bring historical accuracy to these books, and as much as I can a real sense of the sea. I've been an offshore and cruising sailor since I was young. My hope is that although that is no substitute for voyaging on a square rigger, perhaps there is at least some whiff in the books of the feel for wind, weather, and the rhythms of life under canvas.

I am delighted to share that the fifth book, Liberty’s Edge, should be complete within the next few weeks.
