The boat may be a floating pile of carbon fiber grinding itself to pieces on the rocky shoreline of New Zealand, but Harper is once again on her home island.
But that’s the only good news. We’re injured, starved, ill-equipped, and all alone. Despite all that, we still have to find a way across Fiordland, climb our way over the mountains, and then get through hundreds of miles of unknown territory to reach her home.
The island is beautiful, but it hides dangers we didn’t expect.
We’ve come too far to fail now. I won’t let us, even if it costs me everything.
