Homicide in Helix Sector
(2026)(The eighth book in the Lady Elizabeth Cozy in Space series)
A novel by Diana Xarissa
I should have known what was coming. After everything that had happened over the past seven sectors, I should have expected exactly what happened, really.
All I want to do is get to Val Segas. Long-distance space travel isn’t fun, even on a luxury spaceship, especially not when murders keep happening in nearly every sector.
When Edwardo Beezle sat down next to me at breakfast and started talking about problems on the Lady Elizabeth, I should have immediately seen what was coming and done something to stop it. Instead, I agreed to try to set up a meeting between him and Colonel Jonathan Brazee, a man I considered a friend, especially during murder investigations.
I will admit to a sense of impending doom as Jonathan and I took the elevator down to C Deck for the meeting. At the time, I just ignored it. And then we found Edwardo’s body. And I realized that on some level I’d been expecting exactly that.
Nothing that happened after that was at all expected, though. First, Jonathan told me to stay out of the investigation. Then Becca, the Chief Medical Officer, ruled that the man’s death was an accident. Just when it seemed as if things couldn’t get any stranger, people started asking me to investigate the murder behind Jonathan’s back. And I found myself agreeing to do so.
Genre: Cozy Mystery
