The last time my friend Gina tagged along on one of my bucket list trips, we stumbled across a dead body together. This time she’s not just coming with me, she’s bringing her husband, Thomas, and their eleven-year-old daughter, Sunny, along as well. The trip to Virginia, with visits to the museums and monuments in Washington, DC, should be fun for the adults and educational for Sunny.

With my track record for finding bodies, though, I was a little jittery about what might happen on our trip.

And within hours of our arrival, things got complicated. We took a walk to get oriented and managed to bump into one of Thomas’s ex-girlfriends. Daisy was pretty, smart, and determined to spend some time with Thomas, ideally just the two of them. Gina was quick to put a stop to that idea, but still found herself agreeing to have dinner with the woman. I was more than willing to volunteer to keep an eye on Sunny for the night.

Sunny and I were having a quiet evening at the hotel when Gina called. She and Thomas had just found Daisy’s body. And she and Thomas were both high on the police’s list of suspects.

Is it any wonder I just got more and more Jittery in Virginia over the next several days?
