The Troutman Assignment

(2026)
(Book 20 in the Janet Markham Bennett series)
A novel by

Janet and Edward have been spending a lot of time in Doveby Dale recently, so they’re more than happy to accept an assignment from their American friends. It seems simple enough: visit a particular place on a certain day and hand a package to a man. Of course, they both know it won’t be that easy.

Saratoga Springs, New York, is a charming small town that Janet immediately loves. She and Edward enjoy wonderful meals, interesting shopping, and sightseeing while they wait for opening day of racing season at Saratoga Race Course. But while they’re enjoying themselves, they overhear a conversation that raises concerns.

At the track on race day, their target manages to slip away before they can give him his parcel. But they aren’t disappointed, because they aren’t in any hurry to leave Saratoga Springs, not while they’re investigating a death that took place eight years previously. It was ruled an accident, but the more they investigate, the more it seems probable that the man was murdered.

Janet and Edward need disguises, cover stories, and lots of creativity if they’re going to solve a murder and still complete their original assignment in this twentieth book in the series.
