It’s June and time for another cold case. This time the cold case unit has been asked to investigate a thirty-year-old murder that happened just days before Christmas. Billy Upton had only been married for a few days before his brutal murder. His girlfriend on the other side of the small town where they lived had been expecting an engagement ring for the holiday.
Meanwhile, another member of the unit, Charles Morris, comes to Bessie to ask for her help in another investigation. Long before he’d become one of the world’s leading experts in missing person investigations, someone he’d cared about had disappeared. It’s been fifty years since Mandy Montgomery simply vanished. And Charles has been looking for her ever since. He’s an expert at such things, but Bessie might have access to a few sources he never managed to find.
As Bessie and the rest of the unit try to work out what happened to Billy Upton, Bessie finds herself far more interested in her search for Mandy. After some promising initial results, she hits a dead end, but Bessie isn’t ready to give up on either investigation in this twenty-first book in the series.
Genre: Cozy Mystery
