You already know the drill: no water tithes, no crowns, no drama we don’t absolutely need. Book 4 picks up right where we left the wreck—war-rig cooling, Crown face-down, and Cole refusing to play king even when the world keeps handing him a shiny hat.

What you’re in for (you veterans know the vibe):

  • Corridor law, louder. Blue circles, kids first, help before take. We turn a cathedral-on-wheels into shade, shelves, and spare hose.

That cursed coin. A new Crown Fragment shows up humming ‘orderly tyranny.’ Cole bags it. No touching. No kneeling. No fun for would-be gods.

Sierra & Tonta glow-ups. Sierra keeps being scary-smart (guardian, scout, judge). Tonta finishes her evolution—Storm Runner—Dust Skip and Sand Sense like the wind owes her rent.

Frenemies & ledgers. Kestrel’s truce stays useful (not friendly), and the Broker keeps sending invoices that smell like antiseptic and lies.

The bigger bad wakes.CROWN PROTOCOL starts its 72-hour handshake to ‘pick a ruler.’ Spoiler: Cole intends to disappoint everyone.

Same Dust Rider promise: grit, logistics, mercy-with-a-backbone, and just enough myth to scare the right people. No sermons. Plenty of consequences.

If you’ve been riding since Book 1, saddle up—this leg moves fast and ends with the wires trying to crown somebody. (Not on this road.)
