Kyla Zhao had her first women’s magazine byline at the age of sixteen, writing about weddings for Harper’s Bazaar Singapore before she’s even had her first kiss. Since then, she has also written for the Singapore editions of Vogue and Tatler—experiences which that helped shape the settings in this book.
A native Singaporean, Kyla now works in Silicon Valley after graduating from Stanford University in 2021 with an MA in communications and BA in psychology. She’s still trying to understand why Californians adore hiking and Patagonia fleeces so much.

City of Others (2026)
(DEUS Files, book 1)
Jared Poon
"City of Others is such a wildly fun ride - equal parts supernatural mystery and heartfelt workplace comedy. The overworked government crew steals the show: zany, chaotic, full of quirks and charm - they prove that colleagues aren't just people you bicker with over the AC setting. Underlying all that mayhem was beautifully layered exploration of how we each grapple with love, grief, and the terrifying act of letting others in. The supernatural twists are pitch-perfect - think Monsters, Inc. meets Singaporean bureaucracy, with otherworldly creatures lurking just beneath the surface of suburban order. And the writing is so compulsively readable I couldn't stop flipping the pages, desperate to see how the chaos would untangle. Full of twists, wit, and heart, this is one utterly unputdownable story."

Saints of Storm and Sorrow (2024)
(Stormbringer Saga, book 1)
Gabriella Buba
"Saints of Storm and Sorrow weaves an unforgettable journey into a world where gods walk among mortals and even the quietest whispers can spark a revolution. The thrilling action and complex characters provide a springboard from which Buba masterfully delves into the nuanced relationship between the colonizers and the colonized. Lush, vibrant, and spellbinding - this folklore-inspired fantasy gripped my imagination (and my heart) from the beginning and never let it go."

Women of Good Fortune (2024)
Sophie Wan
"With an incredibly entertaining cast, sharp insights into class and gender, and glamorous settings, this is a most delectable read."
