Initially conceived and written in the 1970s the novel Krystal Blue Persuasion dealt with technology and dystopian crises that have only manifested themselves today.

Wireheads and Krystal Blue Persuasion, were both cyber-thrillers and essentially part of the same work, but got broken up and mixed around. There were two central elements that matter to the "Coronavirus Prophesy" concept, these being the conceptualization of microchip implants in the skulls and/or brains of humans in order to give them enhanced and advanced capabilities, such as viewing virtual TV screens that seem to float in the air, data reception and manipulation, and much, much more.
The other key or central concept, which was predominant in Krystal Blue Persuasion, was the global pandemic, caused by a supervirus deliberately unleashed to make human beings both frightened enough and susceptible enough to propaganda to flock to take a vaccine, but also to create a part of a sophisticated control mechanism in their bodies ultimately intended to turn them into automatons which could then be packed in pods and become human "processors' integrated into the global supercomputer that takes over the world.
The "vaccine" is actually a serum containing nano-technology that binds both with the "virus" and with the Wireheads' microchip implants to lock us earthlings down to be controlled by the machine; maybe I should put that in quotes, "the machine," meaning artificial intelligence (AI) enabled supercomputing. AI, always linked with another concept, that of the Internet of Everything (IoE) would control vehicles, aircraft, railways, commercial production lines -- the whole enchilada. Ultimately it would be the networked link -- the Brahma mind, if you will -- controlling robotics of all kinds, including androids, that would ultimately proliferate across the thus-far human-dominated planet.
