Meanwhile Back at the Morgue

Meanwhile Back at the Morgue

A novel by

"It's a ten-o'clock-in-the-morning kind of business where one tiny phone call that sends you off on a case can catapult you into headlines, notoriety and sudden death. But that's show business--and the private investigation racket."
--Ed Noon, Private Eye

<>Someone is terrorizing the cast of an upcoming Broadway musical, so director Marcus Manton hires Ed Noon to find the culprit...but a mystic Baron predicts that Noon himself will murder Manton.<>

Someone is sabotaging Marcus Manton's upcoming Broadway musical with death threats. When four aspirants for roles are maimed in an elevator mishap, Manton hires Noon to find the person or persons responsible. A death-happy Baron clouds the case with dire predictions that seem to come true. One being that Noon himself will kill Marus Manton. The tale is rife with an insider's knowledge of Broadway and show business.

The Adventures of Ed Noon, Private Eye, span over 30 novels written between 1953 and 1990. Noon starts out dirt poor with a tiny office in Midtown Manhattan (his "Mouse Auditorium") but success moves him to better digs, a lovely secretary (Melissa Mercer) and, eventually, the most important client of all: the President of the United States. The series concludes with a daring turn toward science fiction in the last two novels. Through it all, the wisecracking Noon is consistent: a movie and baseball-obsessed romantic who always fights the good fight. And, more often than not, wins.
