'You are, Miss Crane, without doubt, the worst receptionist I have ever had!' . . .; . . . but then, no one expects working for a dentist to be a barrel of laughs. Mlmsie Crane never manages to keep a job for long, and between periods of temping she works for a dodgy builder called Steve Epps, who offers the nearest thing to regular employment. However, when she arrives one Monday to discover her current boss tied to his dentist's chair - wearing little more than a dump of daffodils - and the surgery vandalised, Steve Epps is the only man she can think of to turn to. Suddenly, Mimsie is pitchforked into a bizarre manhunt in which a stalker is apparently targeting all the dentist's staff. Then, one of her co-workers is strangled and Mimsie finds herself in real danger . . .
