The Perfect Inheritance
(2026)(The sixth book in the Perfect Thrillers series)
A novel by Iris Baxter
My mother was crazy. Everyone in Ashland knew it.
She wouldn’t let me drink from the tap. She kept every curtain closed. And every night, she wiped the brass knob of the one door I was never allowed to open.I left at nineteen. I haven’t spoken to her in nine years.
Now she’s dead, and the house is mine. One week. Bury her. Sell it. Sign the papers. Go home.
Then I find the key.
Behind that door, my mother kept a file on everyone in town. The neighbors. The pastor. The doctor who signed her death certificate. And me.
The more I read, the less I believe my mother was crazy.
Someone in Ashland knows I’ve opened that door. And they want it closed again.
