His usual job is to burn unclaimed dead to earn a meager wage. However, the victim bears the strange markings of the Olduvai survivalists who manage to live in the surrounding wasteland by cultivating dala, a medicinal plant with hallucinogenic properties.

The Olduvai want to know what happened to one of their own, and they'''ll pay the Body Collector in supplies — maybe dala — so he can leave this place for good.

Unless, of course, her trail points him to what lies on the other side of the wall, and a truth about the world that can change everything.

Praise for this book

"Sci-fi at it's best! A real page-turner, with some excellent characters that you can care about, and a few you can hate, too! I loved it for the fact that the storyline is scarily believable, but is also a lesson in never giving up hope." - Joy Ellis

"Where I would normally have an idea or expectation as to where a crime/thriller/procedural is going next, in this case I had no idea. The setting is outstanding. Everything's a hovel, everything's filthy and dangerous. The characters are superb, the concept utterly believable (all the more terrifying) and thoroughly well-researched. It's outstanding." - Charlie Gallagher

"A striking glimpse at a dystopian future, The Body Collector is beautifully written, powerful, haunting, and evocative. Brearton effortlessly draws you in. Every page is riveting, absorbing, and savagely incisive... as captivating and intriguing as it is dark and disturbing (with) twists and turns that will keep you enthralled till the very last page. In a word, The Body Collector is breathtaking." - Lisa Regan
