Just south of the Texas border, a war has been raging for years between a powerful drug cartel and police in the northern Mexican city of San Olivar, the two sides battling for control of the territory. San Olivar is connected to the United States by an international bridge, used each day by the cartel as they try to smuggle their narcotics past American customs officers.

One of their newest narcotics is an opioid Archer recognizes from a recent investigation. Highly addictive and dangerous, Void has already killed thousands of people and is now beginning to show up in towns and cities across the US.

After the humiliation and loss inflicted on them by a colossal bust, the cartel is out for revenge. Homeland Security need urgent assistance, especially from cops, detectives and federal agents experienced in counterterrorism, so a task force is set up. The international crossing bridge is about to become the focal point for the cartel’s payback, and ground zero for the fight between them and law-enforcement.

And that’s exactly where Archer and the rest of Shepherd’s team are headed.
