Cupid's Ghost

(2003)
A novel by

San Diego policewoman Hannah Muir comes to her tenth high school reunion in Cupid, Kentucky, where she encounters a mystery (the disappearance of her best friend and stepmother, who happen to be the same young woman) and romance (the appearance of Wild Will Gillette, former nerd). Rex-Anne, whose first husband was Hannah's now deceased dad, may have been murdered by her second husband, militia member Dennis Johns. But since Johns was abusing her, Rex-Anne may have wisely disappeared on her own. Meanwhile, Cupid's ghost, suffering from amnesia, has a bad feeling that someone needs saving from a fate like hers -whatever that was. Hannah has to dig deep for the answers, literally, when she and Will discover an uncharted limestone cave . . .
