He was dressed in a hooded wetsuit with insectoid goggles. Today’s comp was constant weight no fins, or CNF for short. Any weight taken down by the diver had to be brought back up, accounting for the “constant”. This was pure diving, and it would mark the end of Kovac's life.
When John Kovac surfaces, he is a participant in a tightly controlled script; a very public performance which will convince the world he is dead. In the weeks that follow he will exit the legalized world, with its rules and constraints, and enter a new shadow realm as a corporate hitman for Curzon International.
Kovac's first job? Find a kidnapped sixteen-year-old schoolgirl, Odette Karekezi. Odette's mother works for Curzon, and she’s too scared to report her daughter missing. All evidence suggests it's extortion, and Kovac's orders are simple.
