The latest from a USA TODAY Bestselling Author!
When Burnside is hired to find the kidnapped girlfriend of a pro football player, it looks like a needle-in-the-haystack case. But when super sleuth Burnside begins to piece the case together, the culprits know he is on their trail. And when a key suspect is found dead, the drama heightens, and Burnside’s own life is placed in jeopardy. The killers know where to find him, and Burnside must race against the clock to find the people who did this – before they can kill again.
The investigation once again sends Burnside into both the exclusive corridors of Los Angeles, as well as the gritty underworld. He utilizes all of his skills to sift through where the victim has been hidden – but then must unravel another mystery as well. And through it all, Burnside and his wife, Gail, need to explore whether to take what is likely a life-changing opportunity, and assess the good and the bad that comes with it. And of course, it just wouldn’t be a Burnside mystery without the feisty private investigator getting into both verbal and physical exchanges with a broad swath of conniving characters.
Gadget Play is the 14th novel of the award-winning Burnside mystery series. The story takes place in the middle of a contentious football season, and is another volume in the classic, hardboiled noir mystery series that will likely both baffle and delight readers of this highly engaging series.
