In Africa, King Paul managed to repel the Himyarite invasion but to do so, he had to call every able-bodied man in the country to the battle. His nation is small, and his people are grossly outnumbered, and so with the invasion repelled, he must practice asymmetrical warfare against his enemies to keep them from returning, but that is not enough. In order to protect his people, he also starts an age of discovery and trades dangerous commodities to nations far stronger than his own.
The changes being made in North America are accelerating as iron, sailing, and buffalo spread in every direction. To the south, Mesoamerica begins to integrate iron weapons into their human sacrifice rituals. To the north, the Buffalo Raiders that once plagued the Trade Alliance are causing havoc. Despite the violence that seems to flow outward from the Trade Alliance, so are commerce, industry, and crops suitable for almost every area in North America. As John, his sons, and their enemies cross the edges of the known world, what will win out? Violence, commerce, or industry?
