"Every once in a while you read a book that grabs you and won't let go.

This is one of those books."

Palestine 1933: Sarah Landauer and Rishou Hass’an are divided by the barbed wire of the kibbutz and by the religions of their ancestors. For them even to meet is strictly forbidden – yet somehow, they fall in love.

As tensions rise, Sarah is recruited into the Haganah, the outlawed Jewish intelligence service; Rishou goes to Jerusalem, trying to stay out of a war he does not believe in. But as the country descends into chaos, they find themselves the most reluctant of enemies.

Then the British leave for good, and they and their families are faced with danger and violence on every side. Sarah and Rishou keep their secret, living two irreconcilable lives.

But as the Jews and Arabs prepare for the final battle, they must face a final, agonizing destiny; forced to choose between their love for each other and loyalty and duty to their own people.

WHAT REVIEWERS ARE SAYING ABOUT COLIN FALCONER'S 'SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY'

“What I liked about this book is that the author portrays the Arabs and Jews equally as people fighting for their families and to preserve a way of life. I thought the depiction of the squabbles between the various Jewish factions was well done and showed how cohesion and cooperation was largely impossible. The dissension among Arab factions was insightful, also. The romance was bittersweet. I rarely give 5 stars but this is an exceptional book.” *****

“A fast-paced and intriguing novel, I recommend it highly for any one who has a love of history and who enjoys a good love story set in tumultuous times.” *****

"One of the hardest techniques of writing craft is creating characters a reader cares about. Falconer accomplishes this and much more. His characters and descriptive setting came to life on page one and drew me into a world of religious conflict laced tight with tension. I had to find out what happened next."

"Every once in a while, you read a book that grabs you and won't let go. These are the stories that stay with you. For me, this was one of those reads."
