Julia Fierro recommends
The Completionist (2018)
Siobhan Adcock
"Brilliant… The Completionist unfolds a compelling mystery within a disquieting but strangely familiar world, with a tense, taut atmosphere to keep you turning the pages and a family you can’t help but root for as they try, and often fail, to save each other."
The Last Summer of Ada Bloom (2018)
Martine Murray
"The Bloom family will absolutely have your heart. Ada Bloom is a sweet, precocious girl traversing that strange territory on the edge of childhood. Her sister Tilly and brother Ben are testing the waters of adulthood, each in their own way. Their parents, Martha and Mark, are both tempted by people in their lives, old and new, in disastrous ways. Readers will be spellbound by this honest and tender accounting of each Bloom family member, told in a chorus of voices, revealing a intimate and flawed family portrait that leaves you feeling connected to everyone around you. Martine Murray's stunning debut is a true delight."
These Ghosts Are Family (2020)
Maisy Card
"These Ghosts are Family by Maisy Card will enchant readers completely with a fascinating cast of characters, each more bewitching than the last. This book is destined to become 2020's most beloved debut novel."
The World Gives Way (2021)
Marissa Levien
"Myrra is the heroine readers need now, brave, unstoppable and full of hope, even as the world around her breaks apart. The World Gives Way is one of the most imaginative, thrilling and meaningful novels of the year."
