Kaden Ashborn is not crazy. Kaden has to keep telling himself this to remind him that it is not all in his head. Whenever Kaden goes to sleep, he is transported into an entirely different world. Kaden at first thought these were dreams until things that happen in the other world carry over into his current one. In Kaden's current life, he is Kaden, third son of Baron Ashborn. In his other world he is the blacksmith Terrik Qual. Kaden isn't even sure who came first, was he Kaden or was he Terrik? Adding to his confusion is that Kaden Ashborn was born differently from the rest of his family, they are Mages and he is not. Terrik Qual discovers the ability to perform what everyone in Kaden's life would call magic. When Kaden finds out that this magic could transfer over, his entire outlook changes. Kaden does not have long to celebrate as war has arisen and he is kidnapped by powerful people seeking to oust the King. Kaden refuses to help but his captors are not asking. He can help them willingly or become a Reluctant Prince.
