In 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, resulting in untold damage and loss of life. It also ripped open a hole in time and space that allowed magic into the world and suddenly the entire area, from Louisiana to Miami is overrun with myths and monsters, some of whom used to be your neighbors. Nate Cross doesn't want anything to do with magic, but when he meets the amnesiac angel Ozymandias and gains magical powers of his own, he has no choice. Now, he's up to his eyeballs in vampires and elves and all manner of monsters, when all he really wants to do is run his record store in peace. That peace falls to pieces, however, when a rogue vampire with a plan to start a supernatural civil war hits town and Nate and Oz seem to be the only ones who can stop him.
