Tom has decided that seaplane technology needs improvements. A new, large, luxurious flying boat is designed from scratch and built in record time; just in time to mount a rescue mission to the Arctic in an attempt to save Wakefield Damon and Tom's future father-in-law, Amos Nestor, who have been stranded on an iceberg after a shipwreck.

Along with wind and weather hazards, Tom encounters agents, of the newly-formed Soviet Peoples' Republic, eager to boatnap Tom's creation.
