Like A Hole In The Head

(2023)
A Novella by

Award-winning crime novelist Peter Guttridge puts his experiences in New Age centres in Greek islands as tutor in both creative writing and yoga (thankfully never at the same time) to comic use in this never-before-published novella.

At a New Age Centre on an idyllic Greek island, Frank, an out-of-print, heavy drinking crime-writer, joins forces with Polly, a sparky and tenacious Tai Chi teacher, to find among the students a killer committing a series of distinctive murders - before they become the next victims.

They have their work cut out since the idyllic island is isolated, virtually uninhabited, with no way of communicating with the outside world except for a single phone three hours walk up into the mountains and a ferry that calls only once a week.

And, of course, there is more than one suspect.
‘Well,’ Polly said, ‘we can narrow it down since we know this person must be what technically you might call a nutter.’ Frank looked across the sunny terrace at the range of intense students who had signed up for courses such as Releasing The Lion Within, Rebirthing, and Learn To Love Your Chakras. ‘Oh, absolutely.’
