WINTER HAS FORCED THE RETREATING ARMY TO STOP. WHAT'S HUNTING THEM HASN'T.

The march west was supposed to end at the Cascadia Redoubt. Instead, the passes through the Rockies are buried under snow, and Mark Foley and the soldiers of Bravo Company are ordered south, to wait out the winter in the one place still holding out: Colorado Springs.

They arrive expecting reinforcement. They find a city bleeding out.

The 1st Infantry Division links up with the scattered remnants of III Corps, only to learn how bad things really are. Ammunition is running low. Food is running lower. The perimeter is held by exhausted survivors patched together from a dozen broken commands. And past the wire, in the snow and the dark, something is moving that none of them have ever seen, undead who seem to know exactly how thin their lines have become. Facing starvation, plummeting temperatures, and a threat built to destroy them, the soldiers of the 1st Infantry Division dig in for a fight they didn't choose and can't afford to lose.

Book 4 of The Line is the next brutal chapter in a war fought as much against the cold and the clock as against the thing in the dark.
