A novel by

Isle of the Rainbows "Max is by nature a very strong willed man. Always he's exhibited this - commanding personality. I suppose is how you would describe it. Always Max has expected to be obeyed, " Mrs Redfern told Penny about her son when Penny arrived to work for her on the island of Dominica. " If he gives instructions he expects them to be carried out: if he proffers advice he similarly expects it to be followed. Here on the plantation he is highly thought of and respected, because of his consideration fro his workers, but they know his word is law. You can't change the character of a man like my son, Penny, and if it happens to be your lot to come into frequent contact with him, you then must of necessity gear your own actions to it-"

But Penny merely pursed her lips and said nothing. The trouble with Max's advice' was that it invariably savoured of an order. And here was one girl who was not going to comply, she decided. But could she be successful?
