Someone is trying to kill Cameron Rhodes. But he doesn’t know who or why. Cam has led a nearly perfect life. Yale undergrad, Yale law. Grandson of Tyler Miller, a founding partner of Goldstein, Miller, and Mahoney and son of Blaine Rhodes the number two in the firm’s litigation section. A young partner at forty-five with a rich attorney wife and two perfect daughters, Cam believes that he has everything he could possibly want until the day a beautiful Irish solicitor, Raven Adair, taps him to defend her father, famed Irish poet and patriot, Lachlan Adair, who is charged with the murder of his actress wife, Nora Carson.

As Cam searches for a defense for his client, his perfect life begins to unravel. His mother, the matriarch of the Rhodes clan and the glue that holds Blaine, Cam and his three siblings together commits suicide because she thinks Blaine is having an affair. The increasing attempts on Cam’s life force him to send his wife and daughters to the East Coast. Left alone with Raven, he finds that he cannot resist the spell she weaves around him even though she, too, is a suspect in Nora’s death.

Cam struggles to find a defense for Lachlan, but all the evidence says he’s guilty. On the day Nora was murdered, Lachlan threatened to kill her because she was blocking his multi-million dollar sequel to his hit movie Unforgettable. A black Range Rover was picked up on surveillance video at Nora’s mansion minutes before she died, and Lachlan admits that he was in the car. And then, as Raven begs Cam to keep her father out of prison, she reveals the most damning evidence of all: Lachlan is a former Irish Republican Army gunman. Can Cam pull off a not-guilty verdict for a very guilty client?
