Smoky Range

(1951)
A novel by

Born to the saddle, Frank Burdick came home from the East with an M.D. tacked onto his name. He meant to establish himself in Big Hole Basin as a respected physician. But he found the Basin hardly the ideal place to settle down as a dignified practising medical doctor. Frank's uncle had been murdered, and everyone - including Frank himself - was a suspect. One man was gambling with bank money. Another was tampering with the mails. A third was looting a copper mine. It all added up to a devil's brew of double-cross and treachery and violent death. Before it was over, young Dr Burdick was thankful he could still handle a six-gun as well as a scalpel!
