A Hex of Her Own
(2026)(The first book in the Moonshadow Cove Mysteries series)
A novel by Holly Hook
When you’re forty-five, divorced, and starting over, learning you’re a witch is just the icing on the birthday cake.
And then the dead body shows up.
When Hazel Mercer’s husband leaves for a younger model, she retreats to the crumbling Victorian house her eccentric aunt left her in Moonshadow Cove.
Then the cat starts talking, and suddenly Hazel has three coven sisters, a temperamental house, and powers she can barely control.
When a developer who wants Hazel’s property is murdered, she’s the obvious suspect. And what’s worse? The body bears a magical signature matching Hazel’s.
Even though her magic only awakened yesterday.
With the town’s council watching, Hazel must master her crazy new powers and find the real killer, with help from her eccentric new coven, one sarcastic talking cat, and Graham Blackwood—the infuriating neighbor who has supernatural secrets of his own.
But as Hazel digs, one thing is clear: the murder is connected to secrets her aunt left behind.
Someone wants something within the house, and they’re willing to kill again.
A Hex of Her Own is the first Moonshadow Cove Mystery, a humorous paranormal women’s fiction mystery featuring a forty-five-year-old late-blooming witch, a magical small town, an inherited Victorian full of secrets, found family, a sarcastic talking cat, murder, utter chaos, and a slow-burn romance with the grumpy werewolf next door.
Genre: Cozy Mystery
