A new novella from The Imprint War

From the pages of Kevin Ikenberry's popular novel Runs In The Family comes the story of the elite Fleet air support squadron The Lancers.

Lieutenant Tony Richards struggles between the regimented, make no mistakes atmosphere of being a Fleet fighter pilot and the combat imprint raging in his head. Armed with the memories and instincts of a decorated Spitfire pilot from the Battle of Britain, Tony should be tearing it up as the Fleet engages the mysterious Greys for the first time. Instead, he's left virtually alone above the planet Meena. As refugee ships climb their way to orbit, the Greys move to engage. Tony calls for help, and five other aircraft join up.

One of them is Visha Singh. The poised Captain immediately takes charge of the situation and deploys her forces as Lancer Squadron. The rag-tag unit fends off the Grey assault with minimal losses the themselves and the refugees, but the fight is far from over. As the situation worsens, Tony loses Visha but gains a wingman in Michelle Boyd, a daring pilot coping with guilt of her own.

When the Greys return for the killing blow, Tony commits every asset available and finds himself escorting a wounded freighter. As the damaged Liverpool stalls, Tony moves in and does the unthinkable in the name of survival. From being outnumbered and outgunned, Lancer Squadron succeeds where every other squadron falls short and a legendary squadron is born.
