West from Deadwood

The plans of many men had gone wrong in the summer of '76, including those of George Armstrong Custer at Little Big Horn, but in spite of desertions and the dangers of maraudingIndians, mountain man John Thurston was determined to fulfill his special assignment and to get through to the stronghold nicknamed Fort Misfortune.
