Getting fired is one thing. Getting fired for a celebrity’s indiscretion that’s going to become the next internet scandal is another thing altogether. Now, all hotel manager Lexi O’Reilly wants is to get away from New York, the country, and maybe even the planet. A short-term position on a private, off-grid island resort seems like her perfect escape, but there’s a snag: this isn’t a solo gig. The resort needs a managerial couple who will run both the hotel and dive centre.
Her brother’s best friend, Tristan Martinelli, master diver and oceanographer, is in a tight spot himself. Not that Lexi should care, but Tristan is the perfect puzzle piece to close the gaping hole in her résumé.
When they strike a bargain to help each other meet their goals and get the gig, it seems they’re all set to spend three months happily ‘engaged’ in one of the most romantic destinations in the world.
Except that Lexi and Tristan have history: serious history that could derail everything. As if things can’t get hot enough in their only-one-bed staff accommodation, other employees start suspecting their lie. When the resort owner arrives out of the blue to turn up the heat, accusing them of something much more sinister than a simple fake engagement, Lexi and Tristan scramble to hide what’s real and what’s fake, putting both their careers at risk.
