Estranged from the new love of his life, reluctant assassin André Warner once again takes the highway to hell, though with greater reluctance than ever - for the first time in his career the target is female. After a showdown at the Syndicate's headquarters in Sardinia, he goes through the motions of honouring the contract. Complications arise and cause a change of plan, which brings him into conflict with Maxim Maximov, a Russian oligarch with high connections in the Kremlin, and simultaneously draws him back into the maw of the British Secret Service, who want to hire an outsider for a job that, to Warner, stinks to high heaven.
The pressures on Warner to ensure he doesn't stray from the path of obedience become more brutal, and a bloody outcome is increasingly likely. In the wilderness of northern Finland the warring parties clash, with Warner caught in the middle and encircled by enemies from both sides of the new Iron Curtain. Under threat whichever way he turns, he has no choice but to do their bidding. But Warner being Warner, it won’t be as straightforward as that. Nor is he about to let them get away with it. Somebody has to pay – and it’s not going to be him!
