If you think the fortieth book in the Bellingwood series will be an easy ride for Polly Giller, you'd best think twice. She doesn't make it through the first chapter before her world is upended. It takes everything she has to get through the next part of her day.

Her friends want to help, but even in the midst of Polly's exhaustion and worry, they need reassurance everything will work out. Next thing on her list? The employee Christmas party that she and Henry host is only a few days away. Lexi, Jeff, and everyone else will help, but Polly doesn't even have her dress yet. Rebecca's return from college gives them a perfect opportunity to look at new clothes. It's fun to have a daughter who sees you differently than you see yourself.

The Monday after the party brings an entirely new set of concerns. An investigator from the state asks Polly questions implicating her in the murder. Sheriff Merritt told her to answer with honesty, but it didn't take long to realize she needed help and protection. Where else to find that, but Boston. One phone call was all it took for the Renaldis to swoop in and set up shop.

The plot continues to thicken as they approach Christmas. While Polly is caught up in the mystery, her family and friends continue to live their lives. All she can do is hold on for the ride.

Old friends, memories, and old stories all wrap up to close out the first ten years of Polly's life in Iowa.

Welcome back to Bellingwood.
