Sarah Foster, his young wife and mother and disaffected resident of plush, suburban Orton, fervently wished her life would go back to normal. How she regretted her decision to dispel the comfortable boredom with a secret rendezvous with Victor Nightingale. Her own children or a school, but on that day she was babysitting her neighbor's infant girl. If she wanted to meet Victor, she would have to take the baby along. Sarah had been following a rash of kidnappings dominating the headlines, but she never thought she would be a victim. Still, when she returned to the car only minutes later, the child was clearly gone. Frightened been unable to appeal to her husband, Sarah and enlists Vics help, only to find herself unwittingly involved in a lot of ransom, deceit, and murder.
