Warm, witty and truly touching, "Half A Sister" is a gripping and gorgeously girly read about friendship and family. Hannah's world is turned upside-down when she discovers that her dad has another daughter, Ellie - which means she has a half-sister! When Ellie's mum is hospitalised following an accident, Ellie comes over from Paris to be looked after by her new half-family. At first, Hannah loves having a half-sister - she's always hated being an only child in her boring, normal family, and Ellie is ultra-cool, ultra-glam and ultra-fun. However, Ellie's exotic, hippyish upbringing clashes with Hannah's conventional family life, and it soon becomes clear that 'happy families' may not be such an easy game to play after all...Before long, Hannah is desperate to have her dull family life back, and hatches a plan to pack Ellie off to Paris. But it isn't until she meets Ellie's troubled mother that Hannah comes to appreciate just how special her 'boring', 'normal' family really are. This is a humorous and heartbreaking story about learning that, while you can't always get what you want, with a little bit of understanding and a whole lot of compromise, sometimes you can get what you need.
