“A surprisingly touching story." Kim Peters "Another M. W. McGinnis rollercoaster ride that kept me reading late into the night." K. Persons "Okay ... too cool, I'm on an alien planet ... and I have my pickup truck." Craig Hathaway

A wicked snowstorm had blown in from the north and the roads were a mess. Recently split from his one-time girlfriend, there was now nothing holding Cameron Decker here in the little backwater mountain town of Larksburg Stand. Time to get back to college, back to Stanford. Seeing a guy knee-deep in slush at the side of the road, he pulled to the curb and waved him over. The guy smacked his head getting in—knocked his watch cap askew. Only then did Cameron notice—noticed that the individual couldn’t possibly be human. Cameron decided to help his stranded passenger—a decision he’d soon come to regret. Along with his rust-bucket of a pickup truck, he was soon heading deep into space aboard an interstellar spacecraft. After the vessel crash-landed onto an alien world, he would now have to contend with a murderous droid and a slew of strange alien life forms. But it is the forty-five-foot tall killer beast—a Minal Loth—that will impact his life the most. Marooned, Cameron must keep his wits to survive long enough to find a way to return home—back to that little mountain town, and that girl, who he should never have left in the first place.

Reviews:

Ship Wrecked, Stranded on an Alien World / Fun, unique, entertaining science fiction

I was reading another book where an individual was stranded on another planet. Craving more of something like this I remembered seeing this title pop up a couple of times. Although my expectations were different. I found myself LOVING this book. I am really hoping the author writes more stories in this to make a series. If you're reading my review, if you write them I'll read them. Please turn shipwrecked into a series. I would definitely check out this author's other books. Especially after reading this fun read. As this is the 1st book of his that I have read I am looking forward to some more exciting science fiction stories.-Timothy Albert

Great Space Opera / Don't Miss This One!
One hell of a ride. Couldn’t put it down. Plenty of room for sequels, with unlimited adventures. This book will captivate any and all who want to go where no man has gone before. I gave it 5 stars because has everything needed to keep you actively wanting to know what will happen next. Tons of room to grow the crew into incredible creatures. I can’t wait to head out on a new adventure with Cam, Heather, and Alice.-Kindle Customer

Rollicking fine science fiction story that is superbly written!
This is a rollicking scifi fun tale that focuses on Cameron who helps a ship-wrecked alien, a good act that lands him aboard its spaceship with a rather demented droid that causes Cameron all sorts of trouble, even as his New York small hometown is being wrecked by a Loth creature that is an organic wrecking ball. His girlfriend Heather forms a second POV with solid, contemporaneous chapters. The action is nearly continuous, the alien galaxy layout is plausible and McGinnis' knowledge of animal behavior extends well beyond the mention of Konrad Lorenz. There is some nice solid science in several sections that I quite enjoyed. Most important is the fine third person POV narrative of Cameron, the scene shifts and the dynamic of being at risk and worried about Heather and Earth's survival. In one sense this is a fine 'small-town guy makes good' story. In another sense, it is a Robinson Crusoe exploration of an alien planet. And finally, it is a story about relationships, human and alien. I very much enjoyed McGinnis' Scrapyard Ship series and I look forward to reading the sequel to Ship Wrecked. Highly recommended.
