After a long day at her family’s bakery-café in Crescent Creek, Colorado, former private investigator Kate Reed is relaxing at home when her neighbor bursts through the door with a plea for help. The dog she is supposed to watch for two weeks has vanished—and the neighbor has a hunch that nefarious thieves are responsible.

Although the missing pet is eventually located, the search leads to a series of related crimes: burglary, kidnapping, insurance fraud and murder. At first, there are no significant leads. And even after two names are added to the list of suspects, the case remains unsolved because the key witnesses are nowhere to be found.

To help investigate the curious spree, the police recruit Kate to interview witnesses and hunt for evidence. During the first few days, the quest uncovers an odd assortment of clues. These include pink duct tape, a pendant made from barbed wire, black licorice jelly beans, a punk band named Clownfish, Beetlejuice tattoos and a bundle of cash intended for someone known as Bruiser.

Honeydew & Homicide, Book 47 in the Sky High Pies Cozy Mystery Series, includes a tasty trio of Nana Reed’s Sky High recipes!
