Nearly 15 years after his tour of duty as an Army medic in Vietnam, 34-year-old Larry Markham is still haunted by grim nightmares of his combat experiences. Trapped in a dead-end job delivering Wonder Bread, distanced from his ailing father, and recently abandoned by his long-suffering wife and young son, Larry's only human contact is leading a weekly support group for disabled Vietnam vets. To make matters worse, while Larry struggles to resolve his unquiet wartime memories, a disturbed member of the support group -- a former CIA assassin with mysterious scores to settle -- disappears from the VA hospital and begins stalking Larry and his shattered family.
