October 1918. The war is in its closing stages. Joseph and Matthew are desperate to solve the conspiracy, because they know their arch-enemy will find a way to be involved in the war settlement - to Britain's disadvantage.
Trying to save his skin, the Peacemaker's cousin turns himself in, agreeing to reveal the identity of the mastermind. However, just as he arrives at Joseph's field hospital, hidden among other German defectors, one of the nurses is brutally raped.
