Malcolm Kearney, sometime field agent of Signal Intelligence, is dragged back to operational readiness by his own fear. Working with British and North American listening networks, Kearney establishes his isolated hideout on the wild coast of the Alaskan panhandle to await the electronic signals which will herald the launch of a new Soviet offensive weapon. In an attempt to uncover a plot to prevent Western Intelligence from discovering the truth about the weapon, Kearney becomes involved in a desperate struggle for his life.
