The coastal town of Winwray, North Carolina, was small and isolated, a nice place to stop along the highway for a seafood dinner, but nowhere exciting. An unexpected series of undersea earthquakes is about as exciting as things get. Then a group of young influencers decide to charter a boat to generate some quick content and quicker cash, but before they’re done, they’ll wish they’d stayed home. The earth tremors have released subterranean caverns full of strange arthropods—bigger than lobster and twice as ugly, with ripping claws and tearing mandibles. What’s worse, these prehistoric creatures are gifted with strange abilities, which strand the boat in the middle of the ocean, and which might just spell the end of Winwray and maybe the entire human race!
