Contesting bitterly for the sexual favors of their Spanish maid, a father and son share the same house and table with their unloved and unbearably isolated mother, who seeks the ever-diminishing solace of alcohol. Only the daughter, involved in a love affair of her own, is aware of the tragedy building toward a deadly climax under their roof.
