ABOUT ARCHON
Troyak returns to the operation that took the life of a good Marine, and while mopping up the Fendi, a discovery is made in ‘the Hollows of Night,’ the wrinkled and trench-riven lands just north of Noctis Labyrinthus. Elsewhere on Mars, the arrival of the entire US 18th Airmobile Corps lands four more divisions to deal with the Fendi invasion there. Then, with a losing record in space against Earthforce, and with all Fendi forces on Mars now cut off from any reinforcement, the Grand AI turns to a new strategy to try and crush Humanity.
Karpov learns the Fendi are mustering near the long lost star Nemesis, with its dark companion Nibiru.
Apollo has been there before. Now Karpov then leads a strong Earthforce fleet to confront the Fendi and disrupt the construction of a massive new weapons project discovered there. Fedorov thinks the Fendi have been designing a planet killer, with a deadly new warhead, and worries they might renew construction in some other hidden location. When a new construction site is located 30 Light Years from Earth. Karpov builds a strong expeditionary fleet of 50 ships, but after new information from Class-5 probes, he realizes the Fendi project is being guarded by no less than 300 of their massive Scavenger ships!
Thinking this may be the last great battle of the war, Karpov knows he will be outnumbered six to one, and he will be 30 Light Years from any reinforcing help the Colonies might send. When Fedorov calculates that the Fendi will have a clear shot at the Home system from that distant location, he and Karpov struggle to find a way to prevent the next Fendi attack.
What happens next presents one of the most shocking developments of the the war and becomes a major turning point in the saga. Now Fedorov realizes that this crisis is what Director Kamenski was referring to when he hired on the crew of Kirov to go stop the Asteroid Goliath. The Grand Finality was not Goliath, but this moment, where the history of the entire Home Solar System is about to undergo an explosive change. As Fedorov and Karpov struggle to comprehend what has happened, the begin to unravel a twisted series of knots that reach all the way back to the early days of the Kirov Series. What really was the Tunguska Event? Why did it lead to Rod-25, fairy dust in the bones of Siberian Airships, and leave a strange Teardrop along the Stony Tunguska for Gennadi Orlov to chance upon? One revelation after another leads Karpov and Fedorov to the startling answer to all these questions.
