During the summer, tour ships regularly visit Skagway, Alaska, and the small police department is used to dealing with stolen bikes, drunks, and occasionally a lost child. Major crimes are not part of their usual operation. However, the day a Crystal Morgan - wife of billionaire Tom Morgan--arrives at the station, announcing her step-daughter has been kidnapped, is anything but usual. That day the chief of police is recovering in the hospital from a procedure and a senior officer with a day off is not responding to radio calls. Katherine Ward, the lone female officer on the force, is assigned the case. A case that quickly brings back memories of a past she's managed to keep secret. As bodies are discovered, that past is dragged into the open, and she knows she must find the missing girl before it's too late for the girl or herself.

Praise for this book

"When Maris Soule writes dark, she does it right. The pace and writing will keep you turning pages. And the twist at the end? I didn't see it coming. Do yourself a favor and read this thriller now." - Libby Fischer Hellmann
