A year after the blackout and Chinese invasion America was split into sections with the west coast and northeast occupied by the Chinese, the south and central states are now called Free America. The Chinese supplied power to their occupied areas, Texas controlled their own power grid and the TVA supplied power to the southeast. The north central states purchased power from Alberta much to the anger of China. The Chinese applied pressure on Canada to stop supporting free America. Alberta ignored Ontario and supplied power, food and weapons to the commander of the north central states.

More than half of the country didn't accept the President as the legal president since she'd declared herself the winner during the black out and before the west coast completed voting, The Chinese were angry the president wasn't able to control America's military so they took some action to gain the president's full support. They struck at her family to teach her a lesson.

Many on the west coast had welcomed the Chinese with open arms, they've begun discovering they're really becoming Chinese slaves. the elderly an ill disappeared, their families were told they had been taken back to China to receive the best medical care, only none were ever seen again, Some on the west decided they didn't want to live under the Chinese so they attempted to leave only to discovered they were blocked from leaving by the Chinese on one side of the border and the Free American troops on the other who called them traitors and refused them entry to free states. They were turned back to face the wrath of a secret group that is targeting elites with death for their support of the Chinese.

The Gray Ghost lost his right leg, and his artificial left leg he'd lost in the 'Sandbox' was destroyed in a Chinese attack on his headquarters. He was left crippled in the hospital while the Chinese discovered his location and sent a hit team to kill him. Ghost realized for one of the first times in his life, he needed help, the type of help only a therapist could provide. When his new artificial legs arrived he laughed his ass off because someone had made a serious mistake.

The medical director assigned a therapist to the Ghost, after a few sessions together he realized he was falling for his therapist who happened to have a magical name, that held a special history to Ghost.

While the battles raged along the borders of America between the Chinese and the American patriots, Chairman Xi learned his position wasn't as secure as Chairman as he thought. There were moves being made behind the scenes to wrest control from Xi. Xi knew he had a spy on his staff, he had no idea who it was and had ordered his security staff to locate the spy before it was to late.

Ghost commanded the southeast region, General Gogson commanded Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona and New Mexico. Colonel Watson commanded the central and held open the border between Montana and Alberta. A problem they faced was Colonel Watson had a unique way of dealing with the Chinese, a method he'd taken from the history books, a manner of death that dated back to the Roman Empire. His chosen method backfired by turning the Chinese back in China against the Americans.

To compound the Ghost's problems, he learned his own tactics had been turned against him and he was losing a major battle to the Chinese. The fate of the southeast and maybe all of America hinged on the next battle, only the Ghost wasn't in his command center to personally direct the battle. His best friend had been seriously wounded, the Chinese had set fires in the deep forests of the Smoky Mountains, the fires turned into raging fire storms. Ghost didn't have enough people to fight the Chinese and the fire.

Book 3 is filled with action, and it further adds details to the main characters.
