(1997)
A novel by

Nick Malone had it all, wealth, a beautiful home and a healthy four-year-old child. That was only because of a miracle, a successful heart transplant when Danny was a mere toddler. As a single father, he has devoted his life to keep him safe and free from any signs of rejection. That also meant he couldn't risk his vulnerable son getting attached to his favorite nurse. For they'd already been abandoned by one woman when the going got tough.
Two years prior, Nurse Cari Hallen lost her husband and her precious little girl in a tragic accident. After her daughter's organs were harvested, she thought she could find closure, but it only sent her on a journey. A journey to find her child's heart recipient, but she soon learns she might never get the answer she's been praying for.
With no family left in Seattle, Cari takes a new job in Silicon Valley, California, and soon finds a purpose when she starts caring for young Danny. This wonderful boy stole her heart from the beginning, and she soon becomes attached to him, as well as to his father. All her life, she's yearned for a home, even her marriage didn't fill her heart like the two Malone men. Yet, her chance for happiness could be snatched away once Nick learns her secret. Danny Malone has her daughter's heart.
