I built my life on chemistry and carefully constructed lies.

Scent blockers. Designation suppressants. Six years erasing every trace of what I am beneath a pristine white coat and a clinical smile. The world sees a brilliant Beta psychiatrist. What it doesn't see is the Omega underneath who learned early that being the wrong kind of soft gets you caged.

So I built my own cage first. On my terms.

Then Harrowgate Psychiatric Institute happened.

Four Alphas. One bonded pack. Assigned to me as patients with violent histories that make their official charges look like footnotes. Seven psychiatrists before me didn't last the month. What happened to them wasn't in the file.

I told myself I wasn't concerned.

I was spectacularly wrong.

They are exactly what their files say they are and they have never pretended otherwise. What I didn't expect was for my suppressants to start failing. For my carefully constructed walls to develop cracks no dosage could fix. For four of the most dangerous patients I've ever treated to feel disturbingly like something my biology recognizes as home.

Some doors can't be closed once opened.

I should have run when I had the chance.
