Welcome back to the witching world of Ember McNair-Jamison, small town Louisiana’s favorite tavern owner/sheriff’s deputy/witch. Ember and her motley crew of friends, foes, and frenemies certainly make life interesting in Cauchemar, even without the occasional big city murder.
Ember’s deputy status is challenged when she must complete training at the rigorous, exacting Cauchemar Police Academy. But she’s not going alone. Vampires, Mummies, shape shifters, and of course Kali the feline familiar will be learning how to protect and serve Louisana right along side Ember—with predictably hilarious results.
Of course, Ember can’t go long without being embroiled in a murder case, and this one is a real doozy. The crime scene went up in flames, the body has been entombed in concrete for ten years, and she can’t swing a very much alive, stark raving angry cat without hitting a suspect.
Worse, B.L.C. Bubb has demanded she solve a wickedly complex puzzle—and the clock’s ticking.
Can Ember juggle training, her marriage, the murder investigation, and suffer the acerbic wit of Kali long enough to save the day? You know what they say…
