The Artist of Blackberry Grange (2025) Paulette Kennedy "With The Artist of Blackberry Grange, Paulette Kennedy continues her streak of writing brilliant gothics. Part Dorian Gray and part exploration of the dark legacy of family trauma, I adored every twisty, gorgeously written page. Don't miss this one!"
The Mysteries of Pendowar Hall (2025) (Audacious Sisterhood of Smoke & Fire, book 1) Syrie James "An engaging and charming start to The Audacious Sisterhood of Smoke & Fire series, The Mysteries of Pendowar Hall is a delectable gothic romance that hits all the right notes: a mysterious hero, a plucky governess, and a family curse. Syrie James keeps the pages turning in this affectionate tribute to the beloved mysteries of Victoria Holt and Jane Eyre."
In the Garden of Monsters (2024) Crystal King "This eerie, sensual, and inventive reimagining of the Persephone myth is a lush fairy tale painted in shadows on a moonlit night."
Marvelous (2023) Molly Greeley "One of the most moving novels I've read in years, Marvelous is an extraordinary portrait of the extraordinary marriage that inspired 'Beauty and the Beast.' Rich in compassion, wonder, and intimacy, Molly Greeley's latest will break your heart open in the best possible way, proof that the best fairy tales are woven from the mysteries of human experience. Simply superb."
The Prophet's Wife (2022) Libbie Grant "The Prophet's Wife is one of finest books I have read in some time. Not only is it a gorgeously written and nuanced examination of the evolution of an American faith, The Prophet's Wife offers a deeply affecting portrait of the marriage between a complicated man and the strong woman caught in the storm of his making. A masterpiece of a novel perfect for fans of Hilary Mantel and Geraldine Brooks. Don't miss this one!"
The Next Ship Home (2022) Heather Webb "A touching and intimate story of two very different young women who join forces in turn-of-the-century New York City to overcome the odds. As a long time fan of Heather Webb's novels, The Next Ship Home is her most accomplished and emotionally compelling book to date. The insightful historical details delving into the Ellis Island immigration process make this novel essential reading for anyone yearning to understand the roots of the American Experience. Highly recommended."
Anticipation (2021) Melodie Winawer "An ambitious and beautifully written saga of science, history, and romantic mysticism spanning eight centuries, Melodie Winawer's Anticipation resurrects the Byzantine city of Mystras in a sweeping manner reminiscent of Elizabeth Kostova's The Shadow Land. Prepare to be transported."
The Memory Collectors (2021) Kim Neville "An unforgettable parable about empathy, memory, and healing that builds to a heart-pulsing crescendo. Not only is The Memory Collectors an exquisite exploration of the ways family secrets bind us to the past, it's also one of the most magical novels I've read in a long time. An extraordinary debut."
